چکیده

This paper describes an edge-to-edge dynamic resource provisioning and admission control process over multiple domains through a Bandwidth Management Point (BMP). The main goals are to achieve signaling scalability and optimum resource utilization. The BMP of each domain makes a pipe type reservation to possible destination regions on behalf of its customers and modifies the pipe size based on the traffic rate. For the traffic rate estimation and admission control process, we use two different methods: parameter-based, and measurementbased. Both of them are based on a Gaussian distribution under an assumption of the Central Limit Theorem. The scalability and utilization problems are minimized by using a threshold based dynamic provisioning scheme.

Modeling and Initial Analysis of the RMD-QOSM (Resource Management in DiffServ) Protocol using Coloured Petri Nets

The NSIS (Next Steps In Signaling) working group within IETF has developed a new signaling framework. One of the purposes of this framework is to support quality of service provisioning. RMD-QOSM is the protocol that delivers quality of service to end users. RMD-QOSM protocol is a simple, effective and scalable resource reservation method that provides edge-to-edge communication in a Differenti...

Scalable QoS Assurances with Measurement-Based Admission Control

Among recent trends in Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning in the Internet is the Differentiated Services Architecture, termed DiffServ. The successful deployment of Diffserv to provide a premium QoS guarantees to network traffic requires an effective admission control mechanism, which needs to be scalable and relatively simple to implement. In this paper we present a QoS network framework wi...

Access and Mobility Policy Control at the Network Edge

The fifth generation (5G) system architecture is defined as service-based and the core network functions are described as sets of services accessible through application programming interfaces (API). One of the components of 5G is Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) which provides the open access to radio network functions through API. Using the mobile edge API third party analytics applications ...

An Edge-based Admission Control for Differentiated Services Network

This paper presents an edge-based admission control scheme for Differentiated Services (DiffServ) networks. In our scheme, admission control decisions are performed at the edge routers according to the core router’s available resource information obtained by sending probing packets along the selected routing path. The scheme consists of four elements: (1) local measurement, (2) available bandwi...

RMD-QOSM: The NSIS Quality-of-Service Model for Resource Management in Diffserv

This document describes a Next Steps in Signaling (NSIS) Quality-ofService (QoS) Model for networks that use the Resource Management in Diffserv (RMD) concept. RMD is a technique for adding admission control and preemption function to Differentiated Services (Diffserv) networks. The RMD QoS Model allows devices external to the RMD network to signal reservation requests to Edge nodes in the RMD ...
